Gimme a Kiss!
Hmmm, Kisses are probably not considered a “healthy” chocolate as discussed at Cocoanut Weblog. The ingredients on the bag don’t mention flavonoids. Maybe that is why they taste so good!
I buy a 19.75 oz bag of Kisses at least once a week. There is a special bowl for them in a specific place in the frig and it is never empty. Kisses and coffee or Kisses and diet Coke; I am addicted to Kisses.

I was just discussing the merits of Hershey chocolate over Nestle chocolate yesterday. Hershey’s is the best and I too love their kisses

I’m with you…Hershey’s Kisses are the bomb!!! Of course, anything Hershey will work, but Kisses seem to fill all the voids.

Oh yum! A chocolate discussion! I think I addicted my middle daughter to chocolate before she was born. That last month, middle of a hot summer, my husband and I walked to a dairy bar and he bought me a hot fudge sundae — every night for a month. Kelly is NEVER without her piece of chocolate. She’s 40, and still skinny though, so I’ve concluded chocolate IS healthy.
(Actually, the dark stuff is…)

P.S. Love your header here, even though I don’t buy for a minute you’re average anything!

My favorite chocolate is Ghiradeli although I’m not sure how to spell that. The darker the better.
Does any one not love chocolate?

Me.
I hate chocolate. I always have. I just shake my head when I see others swoon over such foul tasting stuff. Alas, the people that I love, love the stuff. I have been making my famous chocolate raspberrry cake for them for over 20 years now. They keep asking for it on their birthdays and special occasions but I have never tasted it. It is three layers of chocolate cake made with raspberry liquer, with raspberry jam, frosting and mini chocolate chips between each layer. I even dislike the smell of it baking but I never have any problem finding someone to lick the beaters for me. Hehe

I was like you, Bean, never cared for the stuff. One fateful day, I stumbled upon an incredibly delectable chocolate truffle and I’ve not been the same since. As long as I don’t snack on chocolate or keep it around the house I don’t crave it, but once I get started…yikes. Almond Hershey kisses are my favorite Hershey product, but what I really love are handmade, creamy chocolate truffles. The ones so rich in cocoa that you can only take a little nibble before you get full. Oh yes, and then there is my favorite frozen chocolate treat: Häagen-Dazs chocolate peanut butter ice cream. I’m kind of glad they don’t carry that around here anymore, as I’d feel I’d have to keep some in my freezer for emergencies.
Do you do mail order cakes, Bean? I’d like to order one, please. It sounds simply delicious.
Great blog. Love your theme, Sherry.

[...] One final thought. On Average Joe’s blog post, “Gimme a Kiss!” a very important fact is brought out, and that is the absence of flavonoids in [...]

Jane, if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, see the latest post on my blog about Hershey’s Chocolate Truffles Wrapped in Dark Chocolate.
Sherry, your post here and pingback to my blog inspired me to research Hershey’s Kisses for my most recent post. That’s when I discovered Hershey’s did make dark chocolate and stumbled upon the Chocolate Truffles Kisses. I haven’t seen the ingredients yet to determine if they can be classified as healthy chocolate, but they have to be a lot healthier than the plain milk chocolate variety, in my opinion. Thanks for your candied, I mean candid, remarks! (Okay, that was bad, I admit it!)
